How to read a service alert before you leave

A quick guide to spotting what matters in an alert before you head to the station.

Before you leave

Service alerts are most useful when they answer three questions quickly:

  • What line is affected?
  • When does the change start?
  • Do you need a different departure?

What we recommend

Look for the affected line badge first, then the time window, then the description. If you are commuting on 11, check whether the alert changes your departure or only impacts later stops.

Good alerts reduce uncertainty. They should help you decide, not make you decode transit jargon.

Practical habit

Open News before you leave home, not after you reach the platform. That gives you time to switch trains, leave earlier, or wait out a short disruption.
